Affirmed by a bird 🥰 This morning I went to the farmer’s market at Pine Ridge Rd and Livingston Rd for fresh fruit and veggies, and oh my goodness, I found myself in front of the Farmers Market Bird Man, Rolf! To my surprise and absolute delight, Romeo transferred easily to my arm, and rested his head on my shoulder. Rolf taught me where the “spot” is, and that was that. Romeo also let me “tickle” his “armpit” and spread a wing out fully in appreciation. Rolf let me know that birds are like dogs… they know… 🙏🏻❤️ What a wonderful feeling to be trusted by such a creature.

Flame Lily randomly growing at our cottage in Bonita Springs! This striking flower is native to parts of Africa and Asia. It grows as a climbing vine, using tendrils on the tips of its leaves to grip onto nearby plants or supports. It starts out as a drooping pod, then opens with tendrils down, before each petal rises up—as I observed over two days. What a treat! PSA: toxic if ingested. It’s a visual treat. ;)

Early voting was a breeze @colliercountypubliclibrary HQ on the NW corner of Orange Blossom Dr and Airport-Pulling Rd in the center of Naples. The courtyard’s fountain and tropical trees create a peaceful ambiance, and the poll workers were genuinely enthusiastic and friendly. Check-in lady offered excellent information. We had such a lovely interaction, knowing nothing about the other, that I had some tears. “Oh! Is this your first time voting?” “No. This is such a big one, though.” Her eyes and smile agreed as she sent me off for this treasured civic duty.

Exciting news! “Collier County is the proposed home for a new $25 million to $30 million performing arts center dedicated to the memory of superstar tenor Luciano Pavarotti.

Calling Naples “the perfect reflected image” of the blended arts environment her husband advocated, Nicoletta Montovani Pavarotti, his wife, announced plans to build the center in Naples. It would be paired with, she hopes, an academy for young singers, a restaurant and a museum that would house memorabilia from the famed opera singer’s life. It would be the American home of The Luciano Pavarotti Foundation which is based in the late singer’s home of Modena, Italy. The foundation is behind the local plan and is already fundraising for the 900-seat center to be known as the Theater in the Garden.

The location has not been determined, but the group has been looking at a 17-acre county-owned area on Bayshore Drive that has long been discussed as a potential arts center site. Naples Mayor Teresa Heitmann said she hopes a space in the city can be found.

We got adopted! One family had too many, and apparently we needed another. This handsome boy came calling—how did he know? Still can’t believe that we found his family and get to keep him. They’re so happy for him and us. 🥹

Our teen named him Delta, a nod to one if his favorite bands, alt-J. (alt-j = ∆)

In math, delta represents change, positive or negative.

In relationships, “Deltas have the ability to listen closely and place value on the other person rather than themselves.”

Spiritually, “the unclosed delta symbol represents change. Just like the ocean, our life never goes on in a constant state. It is either filled with flat and calm waves or a raging thrashing storm, and we cannot control it. The best thing one can do is to adjust to this change.” (Sounds like the serenity prayer to me.)
